Inadequate Dog Laws in Brisbane

Hey Everyone, I have started a petition regarding the current inadequate dog attack laws in Qld as I want to raise awareness of this important community issue. This petition has been created in memory of my beloved & family pet a 12 yr old Chihuahua named Chiko, who was viciously attacked & KILLED by an unrestrained Rottweiler in a quiet residential street in Algester, Brisbane on January 5 2012. We were on our evening walk & had our 3 yr old son with us at the time of this sickening occurrence. The Brisbane City Council ranger sadly informed us that these attacks happen almost EVERY day! Regulations surrounding dog attacks are 2 lenient & something NEEDS 2 b done NOW! If a human kills, it has 2 pay the price. If a dog kills or maims, all the owners get are pathetic fines, some regulations 2 follow, and usually they get 2 keep these dangerous, menacing, killing machines. I have forever lost my baby who was the light of my life & my best friend for 12 yrs. I have 2 forever live with the horrific memory of watching this crazed rottweiler charge across the other side of the street towards my partner & our 2 dogs. Where I saw my brave little Chiko try & protect his dad & his sister Ludo a Labrador cross Sharpei. At only 3.9kgs he gave all he had & he never backed down against a dog that weighed approx 55kgs & was over 10 times his size! He never stood a chance. I watched him get savagely attacked & die in front of my eyes, as myself & 2 adult males tried 2 get this killer dog off him. I miss him every single minute of the day and my life has been scarred & irrevocably changed forever by this. This all happened just 200 METRES from my family’s home. If an animal kills or maims, that animal & its owner/s need to pay the price! I want Justice 4 Chiko, & all the many other poor beloved pets that have suffered the same fate.
