Several issues have been causing deterioration of a once upscale neighborhood. Many of these issues could be resolved by enforcing the existing Jackson County Zoning Code. Code violations have been reported to the County Planning Department over the past 10 months as advised by a county supervisor. There is little evidence that the violations have been resolved.
We need a plan to effectively enforce code violations. Otherwise deterioration will continue until responsible homeowners move out and are replaced by owners who could turn the neighborhood into a slum. This is happening in many Jackson County communities. The solution could be applied to all of Jackson County.
The following issues are of great concern:
Rental of single family homes to multiple unrelated adults.
Abandoned dwellings.
Abandoned Slabs.
Unmaintained yards.
Commercial use of single family dwellings.
Drainage Ditches not Maintained.
Unapproved Excavation.
Vandalism and Burglary.
Abandoned Vehicles.
