The Canadian and EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) negotiations have completed a ninth round, with an estimated sign-off in early 2012. CETA is the most important trade deal since NAFTA, and is considered by some as the largest and most ambitious trade deal yet.
In June 2011 a CETA Sustainability Impact Assessment Report (SIA) was completed by the EU, with some advisory support from Canada. Reference http://www.eucanada-sia.org/ The CETA SIA states “The impact analysis assesses the economic, social and environmental impacts in Canada and the European Union…”
No Canadian ENGOs participated.
